First, thanks for all the responses I have received from this mailing
list.

Reading the ReadMe on the LU patch bundle, I noticed it contains the
118833-36 Kernel patch. I know the kernel patch 118833-36 is a huge
kernel change, and unfortunately I am not running this or a later
release. So at this time am I at a standstill, or is there another
solution?

Thanks,

Hi Mike!

Please see the "Solaris 10 Live Upgrade Patch Bundle" on
http://sunsolve.sun.com which
is designed to make it a little easier for customers to start using Live
Upgrade.

To access it, login to SunSolve, go to
http://sunsolve.sun.com/show.do?target=patches/patch-access,
and in the box under "Recommended Solaris Patch Clusters, J2SE and Java
Enterprise System Clusters",
scroll down to the "Solaris 10 Live Upgrade Patch Bundle". This patch
bundle has all
the patches you need to get Live Upgrade up and running. Read the
README. You do need
a valid service contract to download patch bundles.

There's also information on my patch blog, http://blogs.sun.com/patch,
and on the
Big Admin Patching Hub,
http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/patches/overview.jsp, especially the
Advanced "How To" articles on
http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hubs/documentation/patch/patch-howto.jsp

I hope this helps!

Best Wishes,

All,

I have been tasked with finding a patch strategy for all Solaris
servers. The good majority of these servers are running Solaris 10U2
with non-global zones; roughly totaling 100 servers. Note: These servers
were Live Upgraded from Solaris 9. From the research I have done, the
Live Upgrade process will not work unless it is running S10U4 (08/07). I
am looking for suggestions on how to do this. I am unable to purchase
any solution that SUN offers, although I would love to. Has anyone used
the LU process or know of another way to accomplish this?

Also, has anyone run through the LU process to upgrade S10u2 to S10u4?

Thanks,
Mike
