This is incredible. I was working this morning on a server where we put zonepath on ZFS... Why did we that ? Hey ! To have something SIMPLE. And there was NO documentation which said "YOU MUST NOT". Instead documentation gave informations on what to do (legacy mount, ...) or what should not (don't try to LU, ...). Even today documentations are not so clear....take a look : http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-1592/gcmcz?l=en&a=view&q=Do+Not+Place+the+Root+File+System+of+a+Non-Global+Zone+on+ZFS "should not", "might result" This one is clearer : http://opensolaris.org/os/community/zones/faq/#cfg_zfsboot ...but it comes from "open side". Even if I could understand how complex it may be to make a so big step....I can't believe the next Solaris release would come with ZFS root for the global zone and nothing for non-global !! However, I'm waiting for ZFS root since a long time ! >> I think your best bet will be to wait for S10u6 to come out. >> Provision a system with update 6, detach your zones from the old >> system, then update-on-attach them to the new system. Update-on-attach ? In U6 ? Are you sure ?
