So we have ipmitool shipped in Solaris as /usr/sfw/bin/ipmitool.

On the software companion CD for Sun's X-series servers, a special
version of ipmitool is provided that makes the 'sunoem' subcommands
actually useful on these servers. This, along with the ipmiflash
utility install as unbundled products under /opt.

First, thanks to whoever at Sun provided the ipmitool with the working
sunoem subcommands. Thanks to that, I now have a method in my
jumpstart finish scripts that fully configures the ILOM.

But I would really like for it to replace the lackluster version that
is bundled with Solaris (/usr/sfw/bin/ipmitool), as well as add
ipmiflash. I understand that the reason why it's not bundled may be
due to some sort of bundled/unbundled disconnect between the hardware
group at Sun and Solaris engineering.

Would anyone with a purple badge know how one would get started down
this road?

Now, if only sun4v machines had a BMC...
