Folks, I am running OpenSolaris under VMware. In order to understand how hot swapping works, I did the following experiment:
1. From a terminal window, I ran "format" command. This command showed only one disk - c8t0d0. 2. From VMWare server, I added a new hardware as SCSI disk. 3. From the terminal window, I ran "format" once again. However, the new disk does not show up in the list. I rebooted the system and ran "format" once again. This time it shows two devices - c8t0d0 and c8t1d0. I am wondering why the disk was not detected. Is there a step that I am missing? Thank you in advance for your help.
