Hi Folks,
As you've noticed, we now have 2 drafts to review. The first is the
observed behaviour of syslog.
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-syslog-syslog-01.txt
The second is a new draft proposed by Darren New and Marshall Rose.
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-syslog-reliable-00.txt
For my ID, as I said before, I'm not entirely thrilled the way that
some sections have come out. (I needed to back away from it for a
moment and catch my breath. :) All comments and criticisms will be
graciously received.
I am pleased with the proposed architecture in the ID from Darren and
Marshall. I had concerns about the scalability of any proposal but
it appears that the "relays" may be used as local aggregation points
before passing the messages along to centralized "collectors", or
regional aggregation points for a more tiered approach. For those of
you wishing to catch up on the BEEP protocol, drafts, and such, please
take a look at the BEEP WG Charter and mailing list:
http://www.ietf.org/html.charters/beep-charter.html

As always, let's get some discussion going on the mailing list about
these things. I've updated our WG pages with the latest information:

I'd like to propose the following agenda for San Diego.
Syslog WG Agenda - 2 hours
====================================================
Opening and Agenda Bashing 5 minutes
Discussion of syslog-syslog-01 15 minutes
Discussion of Alex's draft 45 minutes
Discussion of syslog-reliable-00 50 minutes
Wrap-up 5 minutes
I'd like to have the discussion of syslog-syslog-01 mostly done on the
mailing list so we just have to do a brief review during the meeting.
The other drafts should get the bulk of the time. Let me know if
there's anything else that we need to discuss there.
Thanks,
Chris
