Hi Everyone, I'm now "moderating" the list. This seems to have cut down a lot of spam. :-) On the down-side, however, none of the rest of you will be getting: - any of those notices of anatomically enhanced pictures - the story of that poor widow from her war torn country who would like you to help her spend/invest her US$12,000,000. - offers to stuff envelopes for really high pay.
Hope this helps. Thanks, Chris At 04:14 PM 3/22/2002 -0600, Chris Lonvick wrote: >Hi Folks, > >Does anyone disagree with this policy for this mailing list? >If I don't get any disagreement within the next week or so, >I'll dig into the configuration and make the appropriate >changes. ...and I'll pay close attention to received >messages. > >Thanks, >Chris > > >>From: The IESG <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >>To: IETF-Announce:; >>Subject: Guidance for spam-control on IETF mailing lists >>Date: Thu, 14 Mar 2002 10:03:56 -0500 >>Sender: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >> >> >>The level of spam on IETF mailing lists has now reached the level >>that we encourage the use of operational controls as described in: >> >> http://www.ietf.org/IESG/STATEMENTS/mail-submit-policy.txt >> >>In particular, list managers are encouraged to employ the use of >>automatic mechanisms that immediately distribute messages submitted >>by subscribers and other known email addresses while directing all >>other messages to a human reviewer for rejection or approval.
