Drew: You have completely missed the point and the context.(read the thread please before you "huh?" me. THis in not about 1500 meters) I DO KNOW exactly how the top runners think, and in this context they are not concerned with marathon trials qualifying times.
I cannot think of ONE, not ONE single marathoner of note that had the time 2:22 anywhere in their mindset. When in a marathon you race to run as fast as you can or win, OR BOTH.
