while the tough-conditions people seem (note i say SEEM) to produce more of the distance talent that lasts in this country, I would note that a large proportion of the successfull people end up in the warmer climes once they've made it. Could it be that the better weather is conducive to training loads that a mature athlete can handle without negative consequences, but which burn out a youngster? gh
