I've gone round and round with tech support regarding aliases before as
well.

A third option I didn't see mentioned was change your alias. Obviously none
of the options are ideal but how much time are you really willing to spend
on this issue?

I ultimately started a ticket online in the help section and after a few
round about I told them I'd never let the issue be closed until they
resolved it to my satisfaction.
