Well assuming that your laptop also has a wifi card, at least a 802.11b, G
would be preferable but b is sufficient for websurfing.

You need to setup a peer-to-peer between these two computers. But you also
need to setup Internet Connection sharing. This is a built-in function of
WinXP and the connection wizard can walk you through that.
