< If I change from individual
to family, would I lose my grandfathered add on? >
Mel I switched from individual to family - one year ago. I am still able to
activate the $19.99 VPN internet when I travel - I start and stop it as I don't
need it at home and T-Mo prorates it. It seems the last time I did this the
rep checked my records which showed I had done this several times - so perhaps
they will continue to honor it although someone said that plan is no longer
available but I think it may be in cases like ours (best bet is to call
customer service and ask). Also when I switched to the family plan I first got
2 individual plans from Amazon as they had a fantastic deal on the Motorola
V600s. With rebates from both Amazon and T-Mo I got the phones and activations
for free! This is perfectly legal - I checked the Amazon website and called
T-Mo. First I activated individual plans for both phones then I switched all 3
phones to a family plan. It did take over 4 months to get the rebates but I
did, indeed, get them. My advice would be to look at the phones on Amazon and
pick out the one you want to upgrade to and additionally the one your husband
wants. Then compare the prices to upgrading your phone with a 2-year
extension and signing your husband up for a phone and switching to the family
plan. For example, if you wanted to upgrade your phone to the Samsung T809 you
would have to sign up for a 2 year extension and still pay $199. Amazon is
offering it free after rebates. You could buy it off Amazon by activating an
individual plan, switch to the family plan, and then upgrade your original
phone to one of the free ones. Good Luck! DonnaB
