I think the decision isn't that hard...

If you need reliable, always-there email, go with a Blackberry. If you're
concerned with the "coolness" factor of Blackberry, go with a 7105 or
something similar. Note that generally, the voice quality of the
full-keyboard BBs isn't great; this has gotten a lot better on more recent
devices. Note that current BBs don't have a camera and have no voice
recognition (limiting the use of Bluetooth handsfree devices).

If you want a generic messaging device (SMS/MMS), insist on having a camera,
but email is not your primary use-case, go with the Sidekick. Since I've
never owned one, I can't comment on VR (don't think it has any), Bluetooth,
or voice quality.

Personally I'm using a Blackberry 7130 (Cingular branded but running with my
T-Mobile SIM). Although your mileage may vary, I have no problems with the
"SureType" keyboard, except that I miss a Spanish and Dutch language pack to
easily type messages in those languages. I think the software is a huge
improvement over the 7100t that I owned before.
