Joseph,

I don't think I'd agree with you. I think it's more than reasonable to want
to boot up an unidentified and unclaimed mobile phone that you find in your
office place, for several reasons:
- I'd like to know who left it there. It was probably not a colleague, (s)he
would have claimed it
- Many corporate places, including legal offices, are buzzing with
confidential and proprietary information. Another reason I'd like to know
who it was that left their cellphone in the spot
- You are quite naive if you think that this is "tin foil hat" stuff. I've
worked for several, quite competitive mobile phone software companies over
the last 10 years. Protection of proprietary information is difficult, and
the competition is continuously "fishing" for information. In previous
positions, I have even seen engineers / managers of competitors apply for
jobs with fake names and resumes, just to find out what is going on. I'm not
paranoid of nature, but this stuff happens occasionally!
- I understand that this is a T-Mobile focused forum, but still- this is one
of the more interesting threads lately...

Mary-- just wondering: did you identify the owner of the device? I hope it
turned out to be the copier repairperson's phone...
