Well, until you asked (Thank You), I hadn't really bothered to calculate my
ultimate profit. It was actually more than I thought. At Target, I bought
six Nokia 6030 To Go phones w/$100 refills for $539.58 (incl. tax) ($88 plus
$1.93 tax on each phone). I did not sell three of the $100 refills, keeping
them for myself. The actual cost to me of each of them works out to $58.50
after you subtract the income from the sale of the phone. I have a little
spreadsheet that figures out your investment, minus your PayPal and eBay
fees. My total profit from the sales was $198. I calculate nearly 37%
profit. It ultimately works out to three $100 refills for FREE, plus $23.
(If you were to use the true typical cost of a $100 refill, then the profit
is even more substantial.)

Meanwhile, I bought two more Nokia 6030 To Go phones from T-Mobile when they
threw in a FREE $25 refill. I kept one of the phones and I'll be listing it
and its SIM this Saturday on eBay. These phones were $29.99 each. I will
be stacking two of the $25 refills for my own use, so I'll get 460 minutes
practically FREE. My last purchase from T-Mobile a month ago was a 6101 To
Go phone for $50, which I'm again tempted to keep for myself. I can't seem
to bring myself to open it because I don't actually *NEED* it. This also
came with a FREE $25 card. To me that refill is really only worth $15
because it'll only give me 150 minutes, so the phone ended up costing me
$35.

I'm also keeping a couple of SIM kits. From what I understand from
T-Mobile, if you lose a phone with lots of minutes on it, you can have those
minutes credited to the new number if you activate a NEW SIM. I figure with
four phones in the family, one of us is bound to lose one at some point.

You might ask why we all use prepaids. Well, my teenage son is the biggest
burner of minutes at an average of 20 min. a week. (How convenient!!! That
works out to about 1000 min. per year.) I use about 10 per week, and my
daughter and husband each average less than that! (I log into My T-Mobile
and chart everyone's minutes weekly.)

What does everyone think? Did I do good?

Mary

  HI Mary:

I've just re-read your post from March 7th 07. Did you end up returning
the
phones or were you able to move them on ebay? Just wondering if all the
refill cards went though and if you came out ahead on the phones. I
haven't
seen a similar target sale since.
