** This is the quasi-official and semi-temporary T13 email list server. ** hi I need to write an application to find the speed of an ATA-4 Hard disk. I used to read 1000 sectors with the INSW (read one word) instruction. But I am getting a very small value. I think I need to read double words from the disk to achieve PIO mode 4 speed. For that I think I want to program the ATA host controller. I have the 82371 chip. Does anybody Know how to programe this host controller so that I can read double words at a time.
