Nominations in four categories are invited from all of our members as the parent committee seeks to express its appreciation to the many experts who contribute to technical work of NCITS. Winners will be selected by the NCITS Award Committee and announced at the NCITS' 40th Anniversary Party. Send us your nominations: Members are encouraged to send nominations to (or obtain more information from) Kate McMillan at the NCITS Secretariat. Each nomination must include the candidate's name and address, award sought for the candidate, and a letter detailing the candidate's achievements based on the criteria for nomination. The deadline is October 1, 2001: Upon the close of the call for nominations, the NCITS Awards Committee will review the nominations and select the 2001 NCITS Award recipients. The recipients will be invited to attend the NCITS' 40th Anniversary Party to receive their awards and congratulations from the NCITS membership. Nominations from the Technical Committees are valued: Fourteen of the 15 awards in 2000 were presented to technical experts from B10, K5, J11, L1, L2, L3, T4, T6, T10, T11, T12 and T13. Members of the NCITS parent committee are eager to hear of the achievements of the technical experts and encourage nominations from those who hammer out the agreements and write the standards. NCITS awarded Gene Milligan with the NCITS Merit Award in October 2000 for his tireless leadership as the T10, T11, and T12 IR and the T12 and T13 Chair. In recognition of Gene's many years of exemplary leadership and complete dedication to the work of the "T" committees, NCITS renamed the NCITS Committee Management Award, "The Gene Milligan Award for Effective Committee Management." The names of all previous award winners are posted on the NCITS Honor Roll at http://www.ncits.org/honor.pdf Awards will be presented in the following categories: * NCITS Chairman's Annual Award: This is an honorary award presented to one NCITS participant who has provided outstanding service to the NCITS organization through committee work or duties assigned by the NCITS Chair. This individual is selected by the NCITS Chair. Criteria for nomination: Provided outstanding service to the NCITS organization through committee work or duties assigned by the NCITS Chair; assisted the Chair in progressing the work of NCITS. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- * NCITS Merit Award: This is an honorary award presented to no more than four participants who have demonstrated continuous support for the work of NCITS. Criteria for nomination: Long-standing (10+ years) member of NCITS and/or NCITS Subgroup; demonstrated continuous support for the work of NCITS; provided support to the Secretariat in progressing the work of NCITS; served on at least two or more international committees. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- * NCITS Service Award: This is an honorary award presented to no more than two participants who have provided outstanding service to the NCITS organization through committee work or duties. Criteria for nomination: Provided outstanding service to the NCITS organization through committee work or duties assigned by NCITS during the past year. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- * The Gene Milligan Award for Effective Committee Management: This is an honorary award presented to no more than four NCITS members holding an officer position within an NCITS Subgroup. It recognizes individuals who, as officers, have provided outstanding leadership to the subgroup in its national and/ or international work, have demonstrated proficiency in achieving consensus in the national and/or international arenas and have followed the approved procedures in an exemplary fashion. Criteria for nomination: Provided leadership to the subgroup in its national and/or international activities; demonstrated skill in achieving consensus in the national and/or international arenas. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- * Technical Excellence This is an honorary award presented to no more than four participants to recognize their technical contributions and dedication to the technical program of work. This award is presented with the concurrence of the TC officers. Criteria for Nomination: Minimum of 3 years of participation in a TC; Visible contributions to the work of the TC, nationally or internationally; Active participation on e-mail lists.
