At stage 5, I hit a failure with x11/freetype: checking for libpng... configure: error: `libpng-config' not found; !> either set the LIBPNG_CFLAGS and LIBPNG_LDFLAGS environment variables, !> or pass `--without-png' to the `configure' script.
freetype.desc: [P] X -----5---9 106.000 libpng.desc: [P] X -----5---9 112.100 i checked with my earlier successful build, and those priorities are the same. Which would mean that freetype has more recently acquired a dependence on libpng. So, the question is, do we use --without-png, or do we move the compiling of libpng forward? Can you think of any downside to libpng becoming, say, "105.090"? I will do that, the latter, for now, but won't know the repercussions until do a complete recompile.
