Hi,
The linux-header packages only defines the minimum version your binaries will
run on as it is used for the ABI definitions of various libraries such as glibc
or programs directly.
The linux-header packages should only updated when really necessary for some
major new addition as often it breaks things accidentally left and right :-/
Also it is usually quite a PITA when you build something and copy it to a
machine installed some months ago and your binaries won’t run due to a N-months
older kernel, ...
Aufs should be updated when a new version is available.
Read about lilo, did not really use it in the last 15 years, …
