single quotes in shell are fine. The difference is inside “” variables are
evaluates, while inside ‘’ they are not.
Since years I prefer ‘’ for performance and security wherever possible.
Mesa also builds for me, on my Surface3, on my T2 test VM, and my build server.

IIRC epoxy is a new hard xorg-server requirement.

Please send patches (svn diff) instead of whole files whenever possible.
This makes review and merging much more comfortable.
