Most likely because your systems file command does not yet know and
support zstd.
Try updating it.
Hi Rene,
I have a request to better (permanent) document this solution. When T2
first switched to zst compression, it took me a very long time to figure
out the solution to this problem, and update my file command's config.
Then a bit later, the solution was mentioned on the mailing list. But
then a many months later I had to set up a new T2 build system (on a
non-T2 host), and totally forgot what I did to get this working, and It
took me a while to find the mention of the fixes on the mailing list,
and how to fix it again.
Some possible solutions are:
1. Update the main documentation's Trouble shooting section to
include the zst file remedy.
2. Add a hint in the scripts that print the warning: "ERROR: File type
does not match filename (Zstandard compressed data)!? Hint would be
like: (Does your "file" command support zst? check /etc/magic)
I would normally do a patch for item 2 above, but I am not around any of
my T2 systems right now, and won't be until after the new year, and may
not be able to get to it for a while after that. so if someone else can
get to it before I can, they are welcome.
Regards,
Jan
