Are you building with parallel builds? as there are a number of errors
of that type in the strace closed issues that seem to point to that for
5.2/3 and anyway 5.2 is old, they have been up to 5.4 since late last
november so we should use that, although there must be a new one due out
soon. Try running as a single package at a time build.

the cross stage of gcc by adding:
var_append GCC_WRAPPER_APPEND " " "-Wno-narrowing"?? to the cross stage.
I am assuming that this does not show up in the native build, since no
one else has hit this error.
