Sponsored by TWIST - Tablet Weavers International Studies & Techniques

Hi Jenny

I don't know how wide spread Roman weaving was in tablet form - however, from
my conversations with the Roman re-enactors they concer with your enquirer. I
would add that tablet weaving doesn't need great quantities of equipment: wool
and tablets and a post or something stable to attach it too.

Four hole weave is chunky so how about two holes? I do sell much of my plainer
braids to pre Norman Conquest re-enactors and they do tend to go for the
flatter weaves. However, I must hasten to add that I primarly deal with the
period 950-1066.

Thinking about it, it is possible that the horse hair was added as the weaving
progressed. Like creating a piece of cloth with a TW header.
