One of the things that I have noticed when reading some of the weaving
books printed prior to the 1950s is that these authors were very
opinionated! I think that the yarns then available were much more limited
as well.
We have so many wonderful yarns now, that, depending on what you want to do
with your weaving, you should be able to make what you want in any fiber.
In the Summer 2000 TWIST newsletter on page 12 is an article on tablet
weaving with linen which should lay your mind to rest.
