congratulations. This is no ordinary German word.

Curious minds want to know the origin of the Word "Gespelt". First of
all, what language is it? My guess is Old Germman. (Althochdeutsch,
Mittelhochdeutsch, Plattdeutsch?) Is it related to such words as "Spalte" and
"gespalten" which could describe the reed.
