Sponsored by TWIST - Tablet Weavers International Studies & Techniques Hi everyone, I have an article in the new issue of Handwoven magazine (September/October 2001), "Star Ornaments in Ply-Split Braiding", p. 30-32. This is the first article on ply-split braiding to appear in Handwoven, and is written for people with no experience. It contains instructions for cordmaking with a drill and a single hook, a straight SCOT sample braid, a spiral ornament, and a star ornament. These ply-split ornaments are great carry-along projects that you can work on anywhere. If you start now, you could have a nice collection of them in time for the holidays! In the same issue is an article on making very attractive ornaments from narrow warp-faced bands. The bands (about 6" long) are folded into a square, and then a tassel and hanger are added. The photo shows inkle bands, but tablet-woven bands would work just as well. The article is "Holiday Ornaments" by Jo-Anne Tabachek, p. 26-27. Happy ornament-making!
