A good company in the UK is Benton and Johnson - they do many different 
sorts of gilt and silver threads, of all weights, and gimps and flats, if 
you are looking for something for a special project.
They can sometimes be a little slow though, as they are a rather small 
company in these days of inexpensive metallic threads!
