There are certain cases where the threads in TW lie at an angle to the
selvedge, though what is produced is still a band, not a braid.

In one case, the tablets are picked up and moved elsewhere in the deck,
called warp transpositions in TTW. Plates 222-224 show cords going from
the middle of the bands to the selvedge. Cords could just as easily travel
from selvedge to selvedge and back again.

The other case is gauze weave (leno), where the warp threads zig-zag
between weft picks. When a reed is used to space out the warps, this is
exaggerated.

There are photos of both of these on my web site under Workshop
descriptions. See "Warp Textures and Warp Transpositions" and "Gauze Weave
Scarves".
