It might interest tablet weavers to know of that moment of sudden light, as
I wrote TTW  when I realised that the 3/1 broken twill structure could be
woven by turning two packs in a special sequence, and NOT by turning
individual tablets in one pack. The latter was the only one found in texts
up to that time and seemed impossibly slow and tedious to me. 

So I felt my idea was a real breakthrough. 

But NOW I find that the one pack method is better if you are following a
complex diagram, row by row; whereas the two pack method shows its
strength in the speed with which you can  weave solid colour or simple
motifs.  In fact, just as Guido has written. Dutch TWers have told me the
same.

I do remember soon after the discovery proudly giving a demonstration
using the two pack method to weave a fleur-de-lys motif. I practised it
several times and still broke down ignominiously on the day!
