It might interest tablet weavers to know of that moment of sudden light, as I wrote TTW when I realised that the 3/1 broken twill structure could be woven by turning two packs in a special sequence, and NOT by turning individual tablets in one pack. The latter was the only one found in texts up to that time and seemed impossibly slow and tedious to me. So I felt my idea was a real breakthrough. But NOW I find that the one pack method is better if you are following a complex diagram, row by row; whereas the two pack method shows its strength in the speed with which you can weave solid colour or simple motifs. In fact, just as Guido has written. Dutch TWers have told me the same. I do remember soon after the discovery proudly giving a demonstration using the two pack method to weave a fleur-de-lys motif. I practised it several times and still broke down ignominiously on the day!
