Ok, I'm right handed, but is it that, or does the S card produce a nicer edge more easily?
If you're right handed, your left selvages will probably always be better than your right selvages (and vice versa, of course, for southpaws [note: a US baseball term for left handed]). This is true for me with tablet weaving, inkle weaving, and weaving on various looms from table to floor (and 8 to 12 to 16 shafts).
Whether the direction of the edge cards also contributes to better selvages, I'll leave to the experts. I personally always have the edge cards the same, that is, if I were working with a deck of, say, 48 tablets, tablets 47 & 48 would be faced the same way as tablets 1 & 2. This means that tablets 1 and 48 would be facing the opposite way from each other.
