Exactly in the way you describe - by reversing the pattern.  The twist
buildup is a normal and unavoidable feature of tabletweaving.  Many modern
patterns have a 4x forward, 4x backward sequence (or a variation thereof)
which is perfectly suited for this type of loom since there will be
virtually no twist buildup.

Other techniques such as doubleface often do not have a regular sequence,
and there is little you can do to avoid the twist buildup.  For these
patterns I'd recommend using a warp-weighted loom, where the threads hang
freely down one end of the loom.  Tension is kept by attaching weights to
the threads.  The advantage of this loom is that twist buildup can be
unwound very easily, but the disadvantage is that the loom is far less
portable.
