Sponsored by TWIST - Tablet Weavers International Studies & Techniques

For my first wide weaving, I had the setup on a table, so that
the table surface supported the tablets. On another I actually sat on the
floor, with the warp mounted on a tapestry frame which lay on the floor.
My last one was warped on my floor loom, with the heddles moved aside and
reed removed. I laid a plank across the side beams for the tablets to
rest upon. These setups all worked well.

I'm currently weaving with 140 tablets, but fine silk, so it is still a 'band'. Supporting the tablets therefore hasn't really been a problem, but, if I were to do it again I would definitely warp up on something horizontal, as maintaining the tension to my liking has proved difficult.

The article that Peter mentioned shows a nice horizontal loom illustration and it really does make sense. A copy of it is next on my wish list!
