Sponsored by TWIST - Tablet Weavers International Studies & Techniques Michael, I also found a 3 to 1 ratio for doubleweave patterns. That is 3 lenghts to 1 width is about right. I scanned my trial peice on a computer, then played with the proportions using "stectch" until my printed out pattern-graph matched the printed out scanned copy. I was using crochet cotten (the common stuff you get at walmart and Jo'Ann's). I beat decently tight, but not insainly tight. My cotten threads will be "felted" if I have to unweave. The threads were warp-weighted at 4 to 6 oz per group of 8 threads. If you use graph paper at 2 squares high and 1 sqaure wide to represent 1 pick, you will get a good "feel" for what the pattern will look like, but will be disapointed in weaving it because it will come out longer and narrower than you planned.
