Hello Janis,
I hope your move is going well!
While I also sometimes wonder where the list has gone, I admit to being one of the lurkers. I would miss it because I am genuinely interested in whatever ways TW does tend to pop up, whether historically or in contemporary uses. The list is a place I know I can always get a question answered, if need be. And when someone sends links for pictures of a TW exhibit in Germany, or of the Oseberg museum, I'm in heaven. The questions and answers on the list, over the years, have also been quite interesting at times.
I continue to teach high school and this year taught 43 more 16-year-olds to tablet weave. Again, the interest in these young people amazed me. They chose to try all sorts of patterns, ranging from thread-defined, double-faced, kivrims, diagonal double-turned motifs, pebble weaves, historical replicas, and weaving messages. Three or four came up with their own original designs, two created bags, and one even created a wide band to span across his drumset, reading "Born to Succeed". My point is that, at least from this vantage point, the information gleaned from this list, and most especially from TWIST, gets used and readily so. The patterns you share get used!
So while we do tend to go to sleep for months at a time, I happily sit up straight and am all ears for when one of us wakes up.
