Sorry to the list that I posted the exhibition information in german
(see www.alamannenmuseum-ellwangen.de/html/sonderneu.html).

There is a "professional" english translation of our press release on
www.rma.de/eng-rmaweb/kultur/empfehl/kultur14.htm:

4th June thru 11th September 2005
However you look at it - the secret of handwoven ribbons and borders - a
special exhibition at the Alamannenmuseum in Ellwangen

Belts, ribbons, borders and decorations woven on small looms were
treasured by the Alamanni because of their variegated patterns and great
durability. For several years the Alamannenmuseum has offered spring and
fall courses in early medieval weaving technique. This special
exhibition presents old and new patterns and techniques, from simple
wristlets and bookmarks to elaborately fashioned horse bridles. The huge
variety of colors used in the woven work contributed by weavers from all
over Germany, is particularly impressive. The exhibition also offers the
opportunity to observe weavers at work and try your own hand at weaving.
