I did try the back-strap/weaver tension method; unfortunately my projects tended to get tangled up and I don't have that many conveniently place doorknobs or other means of stabilizing the other end of the warp. It was quite frustrating, since that did look like the best way to go with this!

Well if cost and space are problems, you don´t need a loom for tabletweaving! Use thr weaver´s warp tentioning, I works very well and you keep your work in a bag or even in your pocket!
