Di, I do not want to sound like a wet blanket...but honestly that is a hard pattern. As someone advised, try a sample first. Then you will understand the principles behind the turning and threading directions. I would suggest a warp carrying 4 tablets, each holding black in two adjacent holes and white in other two holes. Then weave diagonal stripes until you can see how they work, how one tablet is related to its neighbour, how back of band is related to front, how to change direction of diagonal and so on. Then you will attack that 4-strand pattern with understanding.... Not just blindly, like following a knitting pattern!
I agree ...,forget about ABCD labelling. I know of no old tablets which ever had such markings. They are only of some use for a beginner's first warp, I think.
