I use my wide-toothed comb for 10 cards too - just insert the comb at
an angle to the warp yarns, but still perpendicular to the warp. In
other words, if the warp is horizontal and flat, say running
North-South, the plane of the comb is vertical, but the plane of the
comb runs NE-SW instead of E-W.

I just finished a workshop last week introducing tablet
weaving using an inexpensive loom and found to my surprise that
although a wide-toothed comb works very well to spread the warp
when you are using 36+ cards, it doesn't work very well with 10
cards. I seem to remember that someone was using a couple of
dowels to spread the warp (Ellen Shipley?) but I can't find the
details on this.
Could someone point me in the right direction for this,
or perhaps there might be other inexpensive ways to do this using
found objects.
