I'd prefer that all effects be applied to any and all tacos parts that deal with them universally. It would be very frustrating for users to have preeffects in AjaxDirectLink, but not AjaxForm, or AjaxSubmitScript, or FieldObserver..etc...

The patch does sound nice though :) Seeing as how it's Friday, can we save this patch inclusion for ~after~ the beta-1 release?

Fine with me.
I only want to send a patch that makes 'preEffects' in AjaxDirectLink
take the same values as 'effects' and also uses
StringUtils.escapeJavaScriptHash
For instance, as it is now, one should use:
            effects="template:{fade:{showingParts:'800,0,1'}}"

preEffects="template:'showingParts',{fade:{showingParts:'300,1,0'}}"

while after the patch:
            effects="template:{fade:{showingParts:'800,0,1'}}"
            preEffects="template:{fade:{showingParts:'300,1,0'}}"

I'll be sending it to Jesse?
