For info, P2 shows it in its history (in brackets after the changeset comment). I don't know how to view history in iD (but that doesn't mean that you can't; I struggle to understand how to do a lot of things in iD). You could of course argue that it's less of a priority for iD as its target audience is new users; streamlining the editing process wherever possible, and that they'll graduate onto other editors as they become more proficient.
