Slightly off topic: vie ferrate are not a familiar thing in the mountains near me. Does http://aspiringfortysixer.com/Upper_Lower_Wolfjaw,_Armstrong_%26_Gothics_files/P1010309.jpg count? In favourable weather, the usual drill is to walk up holding onto the cables as those climbers are doing. In foul weather, it's common to wear a climbing harness and slap ascenders on the cables. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rZItzz3zkDY/US1KUkrBj_I/AAAAAAAAGgs/dXDiGGn1-ls/s1600/P1020365.JPG The slick feldspar there makes that stretch well-nigh un-hikable without the aids. I'm not sure what the folks in the Alps consider the defining features of a via ferrata to be. _______________________________________________ Tagging mailing list [email protected] https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/tagging
