Try <fmt:formatNumber value="0987098.70" pattern="#,###,###.00"/>
if your locale is set to standard French
this should print out
987 098,70
in this case the space is the "grouping seperator" which replaces the "," in
the pattern. The comma in the pattern is to indicate where the "grouping
seperator" should be used.
