Suggestion:
1. Have the move-into behavior triggered not by the presence of a
directory, but of a trailing slash in the target pathname. The former
behavior makes it harder to e.g. write robust scripts.
2. To improve the behavior in the case you had, fail or prompt instead of
overwriting an existing item, by default.
