In the past we've seen the same issue on the Acer Chromebook C720, and
it was workaround'ed by passing the mem=1500m boot option. We've been
told this issue can't be reproduced anymore on that machine, but I'm
not really surprised that it's affecting other Chromebooks.

So, please try mem=1500m and mem=1952M (thanks to Peter Presland for
the latter suggestion) and report back. Thanks!
