It seems to depend on how much is affected by the (incremental) 
upgrade. I needed manual upgrade (my choice was the ISO method) from 
2.9.1 to 2.10, but further to 2.11 went automatically again. I use a 
8 GByte PNY stick with persistence and 2,4 GByte system partition 
size (one of these stick which are supposed to make trouble, but no 
problems so far....)
