Hi Andrew, thanks for compiling the walking tracks page, it’s a great resource. It would be good to extend this later on to have separate pages for walking tracks, vehicle tracks and MTB paths, since these issues keep coming up on the forum.
I think the section “why shouldn’t closed tracks exist within OSM” needs to be re considered. The sentiments are fine, but presently as baldly as this, it simply leaves a novice reader to ask, ‘well, what do you guys want? Make up your mind.’ To my mind the goal is to provide clear tagging advice. We might also note some of the complexities involve, but if we do so, this needs to be framed well so it can be seen as background info rather than a negation of the purpose of the web page. atm, the two sections simply cancel each other out.
