Yeah I see this a lot, too. I think the global tagging standards for motorway_junction and motorway_link would suffice for the Aussie context https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:highway%3Dmotorway_link
Ie a name tag for the motorway_junction *only* if the junction or interchange is named. No name tag necessary for motorway_link. Destination tag and lane tagging goes really well here.
