Is there anyone using Merkaartor and WMS layers within Canada? I looked at Merkaartor many months ago, when it was very rudimentary. It appears now to be much more capable, and I'd like to start playing with it.
However, the documentation for the program is very much lacking. It's currently at the stage where you really need to know what you are doing, and know the details about what you want to do in order to get things set up properly. That's a little difficult to do when you don't have the knowledge. Merkaartor appears to have the ability to add new WMS servers to its abilities, but there is no documentation about how to set up a new WMS server. I grabbed a link from the Toporama website and pasted it into the Server URL spot on the WMS servers setup page, and if you click on get capabilities, you get a long list of all the available information from Toporama. However, when I enable the layer, all I get is a little grey box. Anyone know what to do? While we are at this, is there a list of available WMS servers that contain Canadian data?
