Thanks Bob, I also found that the Ontario server was also slow compared to the Toporama & GeoBase servers. i think that all of the features in the WMS (just like all features in the NRCan WMS l& CanTop and CanMatrix are also available somewhere as shp files, these need to be converted to OSM.
I found that for Ontario, it was easist to Trace the Trails, as making it .osm files is rather tedious as the area is so big and more often than not, others have added in trails to it needs to be attached on to existing trails. Next on my list for Ontario conversion is the provincial parks, perhaps the building areas should be next?
