In OSM, there is a clear rule to render cities depending on there size (ie. cities, town, village, etc). But I see nothing for Islands. It seems that it is thought for small islands only.
Here is the example of a long island that cannot be identified properly. The Anticosti Island is 250km long. I place a Place=Island tag at the center of the island. You can see it at zoom level 12 and higher. See how it is rendered comparatively to the size of the island. zoom=12, we see the Island name http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=49.5&lon=-63&zoom=12&layers=M zoom=10, we see the Island in is entirety, but no name http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=49.5&lon=-63&zoom=11&layers=M Is there any solution to render properly in OSM?
