Understand. Still, OSM has more up-to-date mapping of Oxford and  
university (buildings,walks).
Could having an optional OSM layer on Google Maps interface be a  
solution?  It's trivial to implement and I'm happy to help;)

I'm not sure either. Could be OpenLayers vs GMap JavaScript.
